Believe it or not after almost 9 years, I will be starting this project up again, although it will be with an all new codebase. Be sure to stop by my programming blog for more updates on this system. About Brainstorm:BrainStorm is a free news management system, written in PHP, for use on your news or entertainment website. It is covered under the GPL , and is free for download, use, and modification for your site, even for-profit sites. Currently in the development stage, it is scheduled for release of the .5 version in October 2003. The final 1.0 is scheduled to be available in spring 2004. The news system is designed to be easy to use, even for beginning webmasters, yet powerful enough to be modified for custom use. Its modular design allows for features to be inserted or removed with ease. Features:"Teaser" system, with a title, small blurb, and photo to entice readers to an article, either on your site, or an another site on the front page, customizable to your needs Full article management system. Easily manage and organize news articles, with archiving options you can customize. Links list, a database driven list of links, button images, and a description. This is a ranked list, so you can choose which links you want going to the top. Template driven system - You can use several templates, or design your own with ease. GUI based management - No fiddling around with the server, you can manage your system from an administration panel Requirements:PHP 4.x and up When close to 1.0 final, the install process should be complete so that you won't have to use mysql commands to create databases. The install will be completely GUI based.
